  1. How do you briefly describe your past work experience?

In the past, I worked in different domains, like the financial legal department in a government office and the banking sector as a Bank Deputy Branch Manager. Both jobs were quite varied. I had good exposure to and knowledge of these fields.

2. What made you switch from that job to being a VA at Growup? How did you cope with the transition?

Post patrum I was looking for a job where I could stay back at home and work. Because my kid was too young, I currently live in a nuclear family, so I cannot work from the office due to a small kid. So I thought of working virtually. Growup gave me flexible working hours and trained me in all remote working applications, which helped me make an easy transition during deployment.

3. How has your journey as a VA been so far?

It’s my first time working as a Virtual assistant. The best part is that I was trained nicely before the deployment. So it was a smooth process when I was deployed. Working Virtually is as good as working from the office. My parent company celebrates all the festivals and events that are usually done in offices. Growup has an open-door policy, where I can connect with anyone anytime. I never miss working from the office.

4. What does your typical workday look like?

Currently, I am working as a Business Development VA. So my work day starts with checking the emails. After this, I take updates from the sales field team who works in Pan India. The remaining part of the time is divided into 3 sections, lead generation, creating inquiries/site visits, and CRM updation. Sometimes I also need to do webinars with clients.

5. What are the new skill sets acquired as a VA? What is the learning curve in virtual work?

The Virtual collaboration tools and remote leadership skills with digital communication etiquette were the major skill sets I acquired as a VA. The main learning curve was a combination of technical skills and soft skills.

6. What is one thing about what you do that makes you excited to get up tomorrow and do it again?

My current profile as a BD VA is quite exciting. Every day is different. There are a lot of challenges in the profile, but when I overcome these challenges, I feel job satisfaction.

7. How has your family supported and adapted to your work?

I have my family’s moral support, and my husband is my strength. He has always motivated me to do my best. I started working after a 4-year gap. It was a bit difficult for my daughter to accept that I would spend less time with her. But my husband patiently explained to her my work. And once my daughter started going to school, things eased down.

8. What prospects are you looking forward to in your career?

I want to take the lead in a managerial role where I can handle a team and train them.

9. What else do you want someone to know about working virtually?

When we work virtually, people think that we are working aloof, disconnecting from the world. But actually, it is vice versa. When a person works virtually, they have to be well-connected with everyone, and communication is the key.
